Bill to ban lobbying by school districts and other public entities

The campaign for silencing dissent continues. A Senate Committee is discussed a bill Monday that would ban public entities (like school districts and school boards) from hiring lobbyists. They’re already silencing the teachers union, now the school boards and school districts? District employees are busy running our schools and need to rely on having someone to represent our interests in Topeka. It certainly appears we can’t rely on some of our legislators to do the right thing on their own. Members of the committee are: Senators Dennis Pyle, R-Hiawatha, chair; Mitch Holmes, R-Stafford, vice chair; Steve Fitzgerald, R-Leavenworth, Garrett Love, R-Montezuma; Michael O’Donnell, R-Wichita; Greg Smith, R-Overland Park; Kay Wolf, R-Prairie Village; Oletha Faust-Goudeau, D-Wichita; and David Haley, D-Kansas City.
