Editorial calls for funding poorer districts now

We agree with this editorial: “The Supreme Court provided its answer in Friday’s ruling. ‘The judiciary is the final authority to determine adherence to constitutional standards,’ it states. ‘The people’s constitutional standards must always prevail over the Legislature’s statutory standards should the latter be lower.’
That is precisely correct. The power of the purse does not enable a violation of the constitution. . .
Kansas lawmakers shouldn’t have to be forced to do the right thing. Their deliberate policy of unjustly shortchanging students in poorer school districts must end now.”
