Reports on weekend’s votes

“Sen. Tom Holland, D-Baldwin City, questioned why the bill contains provisions that were never vetted in committee hearings in the Senate. He said no amount of cameras would resolve this lack of transparency.
‘At the end of the day, who really wants these policy pieces?’ he asked.”

Unfortunately we know the answer: The Kochs, ALEC, AFP, KPI. This is simply bad government. These types of policy matters shouldn’t be raised in a bill designed to address unconstitutional inequity in schools, and they shouldn’t be raised at the last minute, without full hearings on the issues. We’re betting a lot of legislators didn’t fully understand the downsides of the policies they just enacted.
