KS Education Commissioner to share results of community conversations with KS residents

Here’s the media release:

“Earlier this year, Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and Deputy Commissioner Brad Neuenswander held community conversations across the state to find out from the citizens of Kansas what they want from their education system. More than 1,800 Kansas residents, teachers, parents, students, higher education representatives and members of the business community participated in these events and their responses have been gathered and analyzed. Now, it’s time to report back on what Kansans told us.

“Commissioner Watson will present what Kansans say are the qualities, characteristics and skills of a successful 24-year old and the role they believe Kansas education can and should play in developing those skills and characteristics, and what Kansas businesses say are their greatest needs today and how they can partner with Kansas schools to support student success. The Kansas State Board of Education will use these results to help guide the development of its strategic vision for Kansas K-12 education.

“All presentations are open to the public free of charge. Please note there are six presentations that are being held in conjunction with the Kansas Association of School Boards Fall Summit. The public is invited to attend the Kansas State Department of Education’s community conversations presentation at no charge, but a registration and fee are required for anyone who would like to stay and attend the KASB Fall Summit: KASB Fall Summit Registration.
