Homework assignment: thank you letters to legislators voting for tax bill

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT: Game On team, we are giving you a homework assignment for this weekend. Please send a thank you to your legislators who voted in favor of Sub HB 2178. It is never easy for legislators to vote to raise taxes, but we have seen that the tax cut experiment in Kansas has been a failure, and we have an immediate need to restore fiscal sanity to our state. We need to be able to fund our schools based on what we need rather than what we can afford under unreasonably restrained revenue. This legislature is working to do what we sent them to Topeka to do, and we need to show our appreciation.

They will be hearing from the ideologues who got us in this mess; make sure they hear from you, too. They also may need to vote to override a veto. If your representative or senator didn’t vote for necessary comprehensive tax reform, send a note to one who did.

Here are the senators voting in favor: Berger, Billinger, Bollier, Doll, Faust-Goudeau, Francisco, Givens, Goddard, Haley, Hardy, Hawk, Hensley, Kelly, Kerschen, Longbine, McGinn, Pettey, Rogers, V. Schmidt, Skubal, Sykes, Taylor.

Here are the representatives voting in favor: Alford, Baker, Ballard, Becker, Bishop, Brim, Campbell, Carlin, Carmichael, Clayton, Concannon, Cox, Crum, Curtis, Deere, Dierks, Dietrich, Elliott, Eplee, Finney, Francis, Frownfelter, Gallagher, Gartner, Helgerson, Henderson, Hibbard, Highberger, Hineman, Holscher, Jennings, Johnson, Judd-Jenkins, Karleskint, Kelly, Kessinger, Koesten, Kuether, Lewis, Lusk, Lusker, Markley, Miller, Murnan, Neighbor, Ohaebosim, Orr, Ousley, Parker, Patton, Phelps, Phillips, Pittman, Proehl, Rafie, Ralph, Rooker, Ruiz, Sawyer, Schreiber, Schroeder, Sloan, A.
