Last week Senate President (and former ALEC national Chair and current ALEC national Board of Directors member) Susan Wagle promised to push for the expansion of charters that is a core part of the ALEC agenda/Florida Reform model. Also last week the Florida legislature agreed to give $91 million to charter schools for facilities. How would funding 2 separate school systems with separate facilities help Kansas children when our legislature is already underfunding the public schools we have? And keep in mind that while true public school facilities remain public property, charter school facilities become the property of the charter schools, some of which are run by for-profit management companies.http://www.tampabay.com/news/education/k12/charter-schools-land-78-million-for-facilities/2117942#channel=f698243bc81e05&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tampabay.com&channel_path=%2Fnews%2Feducation%2Fk12%2Fcharter-schools-land-78-million-for-facilities%2F2117942%3Ffb_xd_fragment%23xd_sig%3Df362f4d111468bc%26
