“The parents said they are fed up. They’ve watched as lawmakers slash the budget, meantime, their children’s classes grow larger and the resources in the classroom diminish.
“Its a 60 mile hike that these parents and teachers hope will get lawmaker’s attention.
“Some moved to Kansas hoping for quality education for their kids. These parents say they will no longer stand on the sidelines and hope for things to get better.
“They’re demanding Governor Sam Brownback reinvest in education in kansas.
“Laura Robeson, a local Kansas parent, explains: ‘I’m a mom and schools are my priority and I don’t feel like legislators are making it their priority or giving them the support they need.’
Jeff Sykes, another parent, added, ‘I don’t see how the governor thinks these budget cuts are going to make our schools better. This has gone too far.'”
