Superintendents speaking out on social media

We’re grateful for superintendents working to inform and engage their communities!

“Steve Spilchal, superintendent of Eudora USD 491, said he has received positive feedback from ‘Everything to Lose,’ a short video he recently posted on his district’s Facebook page, calling patrons to contact their legislators and let them know how the recent proposed cuts in state aid to schools will impact the eastern Douglas County district.

“Spilchal said social media ‘gives us a way to engage in a dialogue that simply isn’t part of the school website.’

“’You could very easily remove ‘Eudora’ and substitute any Kansas community and the message would be the same,’ he said of the video. ‘People understand that if we are to change or influence the course we are on as a state, we must engage our public.’
