This year, we will have three walks converging on Topeka: the original route from Merriam, and two new routes from Manhattan and Emporia. This page is for the Manhattan walk.

We will coordinate transportation and meals so it is really necessary that we know how many are participating in the walk portions.
We will walk March 11th-March 13th, and we will be joined by others for our final leg into the Capitol on Monday, March 14th.
There will be a Kickoff event on Friday, March 11 at 8:15 am in the West campus of Manhattan High School in the East parking lot. Click here for the link to the kickoff event: https://www.facebook.com/events/780892732044151/.
Once the opening festivities have concluded, the walkers will move East down the hill along Poyntz Ave to begin our journey using Military Trail Road to St George. Lunch will be provided. We will end our day upon arriving in Wamego. Walkers will be transported back to Manhattan for the evening.
Saturday morning, we will meet in the Town Center Mall in Manhattan at 8am and walkers will be transported to Wamego City Park where we will have a Sendoff and Rally event https://www.facebook.com/events/818417251596723/. We will start at walking South and East toward Maple Hill on Correction Rd. Lunch and snacks will be provided. We will end the day in Williard. From there, we will be transported back to Manhattan.
Sunday morning transportation will be provided from Manhattan Mall for 13998 NW 33rd St Rossville, KS, and we will begin walking at 9:30am at the intersection of NW Carlson and NW 33rd E. Lunch will be provided. Walkers will finish their trek at Topeka High School, 800 Southwest 10th St. in Topeka.

Monday the 14th, we will meet across the street from Topeka High School at 9:30 am along with the walkers from Kansas City and Emporia as well as other public school supporters and walk with a drumline escort into the Capitol where will hear from speakers in the rotunda. Day 1, Friday, March 11
9:00am – Step off – Poyntz Ave to HWY 24 to Military Trail Road to St George Elementary (Mile 1)
12:15pm-Arrive at St George Elementary – 200 Blackjack Rd, St George, KS 66535 (Mile 9.5)
1:15pm – Step Off – Along Military Trail Rd to Wamego High School
4:45pm- Arrive Wamego High School – 801 Lincoln Street, Wamego, KS 66547 (Mile 17.5)
Day 2, Saturday, March 12
8:00am – Meet at Manhattan Town Center Parking Lot and walkers will be transported to Wamego City Park.
8:30am – Kickoff Rally and Breakfast/Speakers –
9:15am – We will start walking South on K-99 (Mile 18)
10:00 – Turn East on Cotton Rd – Turn E on River Rd/Well Creek Rd (Mile 20)
11:20 – Turn North onto N McFarland (Mile 24)
12:45 – Arrive at McFarland & Correction Rd Intersection, Lunch and snacks provided (Mile 27)
1:30pm – Step off- Along Correction Rd
5:00pm – Arrive at Grassland Rd (Mile 35)
Day 3, Sunday, March 13th

9:30am – Step Off – East Along Intersection of NW Carlson NW 33rd E (Mile 36)
10:20am -Turn Right on NW Davis Rd (Mile 38)
10:45am- Turn Left on NW 25th (Mile 39.5)
11:45am -Turn Right onto NW Glick and becomes NW Parr Turn Right onto Shawnee then Left onto W Pottawatomie (Mile 41)
12:00pm – Arrive at Silver Lake Schools for Lunch
1:00pm -Step Off, Turn left onto NW 31st St/E Lake St
1:30pm – Continue to follow NW 31st St (Mile 42)
2:00pm – Turn right onto NW Hodges Rd (Mile 43)
2:45pm – Turn left onto NW 21st St Turn right onto NW Huxman Rd (Mile 45.5)
4:45pm – Continue onto NW 17th St/NW Lower Silver Lake Rd, Turn right onto NW Vail Ave (Mile 50.5)
6:30pm – Slight left onto NW Gordon St Right onto Topeka Blvd Turn right onto SW 10th St (Mile 54)
