Block grants freeze operating funding, state fiscal crisis casts doubt on short- and long-term funding ability, legislative committee fails to make visible progress on a rational funding formula, legislature continues assaults on courts in retaliation for school funding decisions, school board elections moved over nearly-unanimous objections by school boards, teachers demoralized by legislature, numbers of students living in poverty and with special needs rising, all while we are told our students must compete globally and achieve higher levels. This is not acceptable. Parents, teachers, school board members, school administrators, join us, walk with us and show Kansans who aren’t yet paying attention and our legislature that we want excellent Kansas public schools. March 11th-14th, 2016. This year, we will have two walks to Topeka, one from Kansas City and one from Manhattan, and possibly one more (watch for more details). We will also be joined by others for our final leg into the Capitol on Monday, March 14th. Comment or message us if you want more information. Walk with us!
