House Education Committee amends and passes expansion of tax credit scholarship program

The tax credit scholarship bill which removes tax dollars from the State General Fund and gives those dollars to private, mainly religious schools, passed the House Education Committee. Thank Reps. Winn, Boldra, Bruchman, Lusk, Ousley, Trimmer for voting against it. Lunn, Barton, Bradford, Grosserode, Hedke, Hutchins, Jones, Kelley, Macheers, Rhoades, Smith voted for it. Time to contact your local Representative.

“A major expansion of Kansas’ fledgling tax credit program to help low-income families pay for private school passed a key hurdle Monday when a majority of House Education Committee members approved it.

“The measure would next need to pass a vote on the House floor.”

The bill did not go to the House floor prior to the turnaround date, but it is still alive as of March 6th.
