The state Capitol is “the people’s house,” and the people who work there were elected to represent you and your family. Join Game On for Kansas Schools, Educate Andover, Educate Lawrence, Goddard Advocates for Public Education, Kansas Families for Education, Kansas PTA, Schools for Fair Funding, Maize Action Council for Students, Stand Up Blue Valley, Mainstream Coalition, JOCO Move On, and other Kansans in the galleries on June 23rd and help our legislators remember why they are there and provide moral support for those who are acting in our children’s best interests. Bring your children for a real-life civics lesson, and wear shirts from your children’s school if you have them. We realize you may not be free all day, but join us for whatever part you are free.
The Special Session is scheduled to start at 8:00 am in both chambers. Parking is available on streets and in lots around the Capitol. No drinks are allowed in the galleries, but you may come and go as you wish. People in the galleries must not be disruptive.
The Senate Ways and Means and House Appropriations Committees are also now planning to hold a joint hearing at 9:00 am in room 346-South. That is open to the public as well.
JoCo Move On is having a separate rally at 10. See here for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/291341921200811/.
If you are bringing your children, you may wish to go on a dome tour. See here for more details: http://www.kshs.org/p/kansas-state-capitol-dome-tours/18467.
