Senate Passes SB 423 K-12 Funding Bill, Setting Up Conference Negotiations with House

After saying they wouldn’t be addressing school funding until after a constitutional amendment the Senate passed their bill with wholly inadequate funding (about half of what the House bill provides). Sen. Wagle reportedly told committee chairs she’d take away their chairmanships if they voted against the bill. The House and Senate versions will now go to a conference committee. In the past, we have not been happy with bills coming out of conference committee so we will be watching very carefully and recommend you do as well.

Voting yes (are they representing you?): Alley, Baumgardner, Billinger, Bollier, Bowers, Denning, Estes, Fitzgerald, Givens, Goddard, Hardy, Hilderbrand, Kerschen, Longbine, Lynn, Masterson, McGinn, Petersen, Suellentrop, Wagle, Wilborn,

Voting against the bill (please thank them although a few of them voted no because they think the funding is too high):
Berger, Doll, Faust-Goudeau, Francisco, Haley, Hawk, Hensley, Holland, Kelly, Pettey, Pilcher-Cook, Pyle, Rogers, V. Schmidt, Skubal, Sykes, Taylor, Tyson,

Absent and Not Voting – (1):
