Feb 14th KCUR Article on School Funding Plan

The Kansas Supreme Court issued its latest Gannon decision in June. Last week and this week numerous proponents and only one opponent submitted testimony on the school finance fix. The Attorney General has given a date of March 15 for an enactment to ensure compliance with the court’s April briefing deadline. And we learned yesterday the Senate Select Committee On Education Finance doesn’t plan to meet next week. This legislature needs to figure out how to meet the needs of Kansas kids and do so promptly.

“Baumgardner also worries that the inflationary factor would cause costs to balloon even if student enrollment does not. After four years, school funding would increase automatically based on the Consumer Price Index.”
