We are seeing extremist candidates throughout the state who support vouchers, oppose teaching emotional skills and offering mental health services, oppose efforts to make all children feel welcome at their schools, use academic misinformation to criticize current board members and districts, want to impose their opinions on books over the judgment of qualified school staff and other patrons, support limiting district revenue, etc. Many of them are sharing information from or aligning with organizations and individuals who have worked against our community schools. Many of them are also being supported by a national PAC based in New York focused on taking over school boards across the county. There are good candidates in many of these races, but they need your help!
You can
– share their social media posts to help them reach more people
– send postcards supporting them to your friends
– knock doors or drop literature
– host a yard sign and encourage others to join you
– host a meet and greet with your friends
– talk to your friends and help them understand the issues and candidates
