We have bad news and good news. House Sub SB 387 (bad Frankenstein bill with K-12 education budget and SPED funding increase held hostage with bad policy provisions) has passed the House 65-58. The good news is that it only had 2 more votes than needed to pass (and 2 not present). This bill was terrible, and legislators should stop allowing this irresponsible form of legislating to continue. Note how long the title of the bill is. The included bills should have gone to the House floor separately, and this bill should not have been a gut and go excluding all but a handful of senators from participating in these important matters. The bill will now go to conference committee. We need some of the 65 who voted for this bill to be held accountable so that bills and processes this flawed do not continue to be problems in the future.
