Andover looking for $1 million savings after block grants take effect

“As state lawmakers continue to figure out how to fund public schools, districts across the state are already bracing for some tough times ahead. The same is true for one of the state’s wealthiest districts, USD 385 in Andover.

“At Monday’s district board meeting in Andover, the school board approved several student fee increases… Other districts not as affluent as Andover will likely be hit even harder. Even in Andover, budget cuts and fee increases are necessary to keep bringing people to the city in search of good schools…

“Andover officials say they are using a combination of increasing fees and other budget cuts to come with about $1,000,000 in savings for next school year.”
