“Hundreds of public education teachers and parents marched Monday from Topeka High School to the Capitol to denounce legislative obstructions to adequate financing of K-12 school districts and policy jeopardizing instruction of children statewide.
“Some participants walked 60 miles to Topeka along routes stretching from Manhattan, Emporia and Merriam. Rain, hail, wind and sore feet didn’t deter folks allied with Game On for Kansas Schools, a nonpartisan advocacy group.
“’We are Republicans, Democrats and independents,’ said Judith Deedy, executive director at Game On. ‘We’re parents, teachers and concerned citizens. We can’t sit idly by while our Kansas schools are threatened. We believe Kansas schools are an investment — not a cost.’”
