Cindy Neighbor, a Shawnee Democrat, has filed with the Johnson County Election Office to run for District 18 in the Kansas House of Representatives, challenging Shawnee City Councilman Eric Jenkins, a Republican, for the seat.

The seat is currently held by Rep. John Rubin, R-Shawnee, who has decided not to run for a fourth term. The 18th District includes most of eastern Shawnee.
