“A number of Republicans will challenge Kansas GOP representatives and senators in the August primaries. They are, on the whole, more moderate than those they seek to unseat — breaking with GOP legislative leaders on schools and taxes.
“If successful, the insurgent candidates would represent at least a partial reversal to what has been a rising tide of hard-right conservatives in the Legislature over the past four years. They could chip away at the grip conservatives have over the House and Senate, especially if Democrats also pick up seats.”
