Sharing from Rep. Payton’s Facebook: Were you happy with the work of the Legislature this Session? No matter your answer, I hope you will continue to pay attention to the Kansas political scene in the coming days and months.
As candidates begin to declare for office, I ask you to find one in your area of the state who has a vision for Kansas similar to yours, then help that candidate get elected. You can help by walking doors, putting out signs, making contributions, sharing posts on social media, or simply talking to your friends and neighbors.
You also need to make sure to vote in August and November. I often hear that “my vote doesn’t matter.” Yes, it does! If you’ll recall, I was elected by a mere 62 votes in the 2014 primary election. There were other candidates elected by an even smaller margin. Every vote does matter!
Many of us like to express our approval or frustration about politics on social media, but does that really change things? Helping people who think like you get elected does make a difference. Voting does make a difference. Elections matter. Please remember that this summer and fall.
