2019 Primary election FAQ
Does party affiliation matter for the 2019 Primary?
No. The 2019 election, like all odd-numbered-year elections, is ALL non-partisan. (Yay, right?) Your party affiliation or lack thereof does not matter. Every voter in your area gets the same primary ballot.
Do all Blue Valley voters have a primary to vote in?
YES!
Every Johnson County voter will vote in the primary for JCCC Trustee. All Olathe residents will have a primary for Council Member At-Large. Overland Park Ward 5 residents will have a primary for City Council Member. And Blue Valley residents who live in the South Board of Education district will have a primary for Board of Education.
Is it too late to register?
No! You may register ONLINE at www.jocoelection.org through July 16. If your student isn’t 18 yet but will turn 18 by election day, they can register now!
What if I’ve never voted in a primary before?
An odd-year, nonpartisan primary is the easiest place to start! You just walk in, show your driver’s license, and vote. No party affiliation questions, (usually) no lines – and you get a sticker!
How do I find out what races will be on MY ballot?
20 days prior to the election, www.jocoelection.org will have a link to view your sample ballot. Also, we’ll be talking about it right here 🙂
