Board of Ed Election Matters

How do we word this politely? OK, we can’t. JOHNSON COUNTIANS, DO NOT BLOW THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT 2 ELECTION. Only one candidate in the race actually cares about public education, and that candidate is Melanie Haas. We have not had a reasonable representative on the State Board of Education in eight years, and we need to fix that now. This isn’t a Republican or Democrat thing. Republican David Krug was on our roster for the primary, and we were hoping voters would have two good choices for this seat, but now there is only one choice. “‘This is a candidate who hasn’t so much as posted a single Facebook post or updated his website,’ Haas said. ‘He’s a serial politician and he has not yet expressed any interest in public education, or any reason for running. That concerns me a great deal.’”In addition to the information listed by the Shawnee Mission Post, we found that Ben Hodge also has a video from the anti-public education Heritage Foundation on school choice, and a video favorably explaining the Laffer curve (the basis for the disastrous Brownback tax experiment) on his YouTube page.
