Legislators Consider Advancing Constitutional Amendment

Our legislators need to focus their efforts on adequately funding our children’s education and stop thinking they can evade their responsibility by amending the constitution. “Nothing is finalized, but Republican legislative leaders are eager for the 2018 Legislature to advance an amendment designed to erase or weaken language in the Kansas Constitution relied upon by plaintiffs to win school-finance cases that prompted larger state investment in K-12 schools. Two-thirds majorities in the House and Senate are needed to place amendments on the ballot, but a simple majority of Kansans voting is sufficient to amend the Constitution.” Originally posted...

Why Diane Ravitch is “Overtly Political”

Well said, Ms. Ravitch. We have come to understand the importance of being “political” even when you are primarily focused on policy. “But when you observe malfeasance, fraud, lies, propaganda, corruption, and error, you can’t stand by as a detached observer.
