Inflammatory K-12 draft report to be rewritten
We share Sen. Hensley’s concerns and saw many phrases in this report that we have seen in reports authored by the Kansas Policy Institute. In reading the report, we could see little evidence that anyone other than Mr. Trabert was heeded. While we are glad to see the report is being pulled, we believe the ultimate result will be the same. “Hensley supported Ryckman’s motion. Kansas missed the new lowered estimates for December by over $35 million, putting the state in position to have a deficit by the end of the fiscal year. We are concerned that a new education funding formula in this context will have more to do with what we can currently afford than what our children need.
