Kansas teacher shortage continues

“The teacher shortage in Kansas is getting worse, and it doesn’t look to get better anytime soon. Kansas City, Kan., has been hit hard by the lack of education funding from the state. They are looking to hire dozens of teachers but struggling to find anyone to fill those positions. Kathy Busch is on the Kansas Board of Education and says not only are many teachers leaving Kansas for better pay elsewhere, new teachers just aren’t applying to work here.” Watch the story here: http://fox4kc.com/2015/11/12/kansas-teacher-shortage-continues-to-get-worse/...

“Rep. Jerry Lunn, R-Overland Park, said spending in K-12 from 2012 to 2015 had increased by $312 million while other agencies and areas declined. “’Which tells me that there’s really not a great correlation between how much you spend and the outcome you generate,’ Lunn said. “Just hours later, however, the Kansas Association of School Boards released a new analysis showing the state’s performance on national tests rose and fell with funding.” Read more here: http://cjonline.com/news/2015-11-10/report-student-test-scores-rise-and-fall-funding...
