Johnson County Educators respond to email from Scott Schwab to Olathe teachers

We are sharing this post from our friends at Johnson County Educators. We also were forwarded Rep. Schwab’s email and find it yet another example of spin by some of our electeds who claim to support our schools, but whose actions clearly demonstrate they do not. We also note that Rep. Schwab does not send his children to Olathe public schools. Recipients of this email were not limited to subscribers to Rep. Schwab’s communications. Questions arise over firm hired for Kansas efficiency study

There is a lot of negative information coming out about the firm hired to find “efficiencies” in Kansas government, including its schools, both in terms of the process by which it was hired and the work it has done in other states. “Alvarez & Marsal, which has an office in Kansas City, Mo., donated to both of Gov. 317 unfilled teaching positions in Kansas

Sharing from our friends at Kansas Action for Children: “There are 317 unfilled teaching positions in Kansas. This is a troubling trend that can have ramifications that ripple throughout a community. “We already saw the troubling situation in Garden City, where a teaching vacancy forced the school district to choose between a kindergarten teacher and their pre-k program. “As a state we must do better by our kids to make sure this isn’t a situation more schools are faced with in the future.” Read about unfilled teaching positions here: http://www.kansas.com/news/local/education/article38176524.html...
