Butler County Legislative Coffee 3/22

We sure hope some people attend this and let their legislators know they don’t want a voucher expansion (SB 87-hasn’t made it to the floor of the House), they do want SPED and other current education budget items funded (HB 2007 currently passed but going to conference committee) and they don’t want Supreme Court Justices elected (passed by needed 2/3 and going to be on August ballot). Thank Rep. Roeser and others that stood firm against SCR 1611

Please thank Rep. Roeser if you live in the Manhattan area. Although we lost the vote it’s important to recognize legislators who stand up to pressure from leadership and do the right thing. “Roeser said in an interview with The Mercury that she got a lot of pressure from fellow Republicans and some Democrats over the last few weeks but she feels she did her research, listening to testimonies, reading and taking “a ton” of meetings. “‘I couldn’t even tell you how many there were and how much input I got, but there were so much,’ she said....

Oklahoma taxpayers were sold a load of bull about parental choice tax credits

Tax credit “scholarships” are vouchers, and in state after state, the low-income kids are just used to get the bill passed, but as they grow, they are most used by higher income families. We are currently fighting another expansion of the Kansas tax credit “scholarship” which would get rid of the income cap and public school attendance requirements for certain groups of students in our state.
