Call to Action: Have you contacted the Senate Ed Committee yet? The ALEC charter bill from last year is being heard TOMORROW at 1:30. Please contact committee members and urge them to vote NO on Senate Bill 196. North Carolina assault on public education

We share this post from North Carolina because it’s a variation of what is being proposed in Kansas. We often post pieces on neo-charters, vouchers and bad education policy from other states, because it’s the same ALEC agenda being played out. We’re leading the tax cut experiment but other states are leading the corporate “reform” agenda, and we see over and over that it’s a faulty agenda which fails to address the issues facing public education and instead introduces a whole new set of problems. We choose Kansas public schools

Today we celebrate our choice. As Kansas residents we choose our public schools. Strong communities, great teachers, exciting education opportunities, supportive adults – every child in Kansas should have no less. When resources are limited, we choose to support the schools that commit to help every child.
