ACTION ALERT: Contact your Legislator about the Tax Credit Scholarship Expansion Shenanigans

It’s go time! Several voucher-type bills have been passed out of the K-12 Education Budget Committee or have been blessed or moved to non-exempt committees to keep them alive past the turnaround deadline, so we may have more action alerts in the coming days and weeks. For today, we are asking you to contact your Representative in the House and ask them to vote NO on the expansion of the tax credit scholarship program in HB 2465. ACTION ALERT – Tax Credit Scholarship Expansion Attempt

TWO UPDATES:First, if the tax credit scholarship expansion moves forward, it will probably be through SB 382. SB 382 was the version of the Fort Leavenworth capital improvement state aid fix the Senate passed. The House K-12 Education Budget Committee (our least favorite committee this session) amended SB 382 to make it more like HB 2526 and then added the HB 2465 tax credit scholarship expansion into SB 382. That means HB 2465-the subject of our Action Alert earlier this week-and SB 382 are basically the same. The difference is that SB 382 (in its original Fort-Leavenworth-fix form)...

KASB Article re: Kansas Can School Redesign
