Agenda 21 was specifically cited as a reason to oppose Common Core in contacts to legislators, and we are glad to see Barbara Shelly highlighting that significant legislation in Kansas isn’t coming from Kansans but from outside forces like ALEC. We would also add Jeb Bush’s organization and Americans for Prosperity to the list. KPI appears to be linked to all 3 of those organizations. http://www.kansascity.com/2013/03/14/4121116/psst-un-agenda-isnt-the-one-that.html...

Leave a Comment Power + ignorance = dangerous combination
Our legislature wants to change the constitution so courts can’t order the legislature to remedy unconstitutional school funding levels, but now wants to ignore the role of the state Board of Education when it comes to Common Core standards and Celebrate Freedom Week curriculum. The BOE is also concerned about their reliance on incorrect information. Apparently, the legislature’s power knows no bounds, but its understanding of separation of powers and other factual issues is unfortunately limited. Power + ignorance = a dangerous combination. http://cjonline.com/news/2013-03-12/boe-concern-lawmakers-infringing-its-authority...
