The House Education Committee will be addressing HB2400, the corporate tax scholarship (new wording for voucher) bill. We find it telling the supporters testifying for the bill were a Catholic schools representative and Kansas Chamber of Commerce. We have nothing against Catholic schools-we just don’t think public school funding should be diverted to them. The Kansas Chamber has shown itself to be a supporter of the Koch/ALEC agenda and not a friend of public schools. SHARE THIS POST AND CONTACT HOUSE EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEMBERS TODAY!...

We’ve seen what has happened in other states who have expanded charters. Charters siphon funds from our already-strapped public schools often cherry pick students, expel students and fail to outperform true public schools. They have recently proven to be a favorite mechanism for those who seek to privatize public schools and a cash cow for those who seek to profit from it.
