Keeping courts a political issue

SB 22 is at best a political game and at worst a fiscal disaster we don’t need on the cusp of escaping the Brownback fiscal disaster. Tell your representatives to vote no on SB 22. It could come up for a vote in the next day or so.  “The slim chance of approving Medicaid expansion in the state will drop to zero. More ominously, the possibility of a compromise on school spending may also go up in smoke. “This would be a first-degree tragedy. “You’d think Republicans would want to avoid that. Why delay school funding work

We have a guess as to the why-it’s to ratchet up the pressure and try to increase the likelihood they can insert some of their pet policies like vouchers like they did in 2014. The Kansas Supreme Court ruled last year that funding isn’t sufficient, and the state must tell the court by April 15 how it fixed the problem. The Republican attorney general urged lawmakers to pass a bill by March 15; Kelly called on them to do it by Thursday.” Read more here: https://www.apnews.com/4c0309b36e76443596d83afb26b61588 Originally posted on Facebook...

Action alert on SB 22

ACTION ALERT: Tell your representative to vote NO on SB 22! SB 22 is another tax cut bill at a time when Kansas is still climbing out of the hole created by the last tax cut. We cannot afford to move backwards right now, and we need to fund our schools and other essential state services.  Kansas legislators need to hear from you today. The House may vote on this tomorrow and it has already passed the Senate. Giant corporations have been pressuring lawmakers for another handout, but your representative works for you, not them. Kansas should invest...
