“Legislators tell him they do not hear enough from their constituents, Shimkus said. He urged his audience to contact lawmakers. ‘If you don’t tell them what you want, they won’t know what you want.’…
“The need to support public education in Topeka is urgent, Shimkus implied. He said it was his “personal belief that there are groups that just want to see public education go away and turn it over to the private sector.”
