School Funding and the Missing Piece

Are candidates in your area claiming schools don’t need more special education funding or failing to acknowledge that as they increased general ed funding they have been significantly falling behind in SPED funding which affects all students?

From Kansas Association of School Boards:

FACT CHECK FRIDAY:

“A puzzle isn’t complete when pieces are missing. Neither is school funding.

Today’s Kansas schools are missing $2,090 per student in funding needed to keep pace with today’s costs.

A complete funding picture would provide $7,872 per student — but current funding leaves two important pieces missing:

🟧 $1,090 Base Aid Gap

🟧 $1,000 Special Education Gap

Every piece matters when it comes to supporting Kansas students.”
