A vote NO on this constitutional amendment is a vote FOR Kansas public schools and the children they serve. Anti-public education legislators intentionally placed this critically important issue on the lower turnout August elections. “What does voting NO on the constitutional amendment have to do with protecting our kids’ schools?

Ask yourself this: Why do some legislators want to change the Kansas Constitution? What do they have against the current system?

In 2010, the 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 ruled that the Kansas Legislature must obey the Constitution which stipulates state funding of public schools. This ruling was the result of a lawsuit brought by parents and school districts against KsLeg for failing to fund public schools adequately. After the ruling, per-pupil funding was increased – but anti-public education, anti-tax legislators didn’t want to do it.

Now they’ve found another way to underfund our kids’ schools: by failing to pay excess Special Education costs – as required by law. Blue Valley Schools alone is out millions of dollars a year that should be coming from the state. Recently, a group of school districts have started the process of legal action against the state for this unlawful underfunding. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹.

If Supreme Court justices are elected, the same anti-public education, anti-tax deep pockets (like Americans for Their Own Prosperity) will have a free-for-all spreading misinformation and lies to get the justices they want on the Court.

Senate president and candidate for Governor Ty Masterson said it out loud: “𝗜𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀.”

There you have it.

Kansans value our kids and we value public education. How did it get so twisted that the minority who DON’T value our kids or their schools are in charge? Think about what will happen if they also control the KS Supreme Court.”
