Game On Testimony – SB44, School Funding
Game On testified on two different bills in the Capitol today. The first was SB44, which is the governor’s school funding plan. We testified in favor of this bill and in particular in support of promptly adding funding for inflation during the phase-in of the funding passed by the legislature last session. Game On testified in the House Education Committee in opposition to House Bill 2166 which would require every district to offer a financial literacy course and would require every Kansas high school student to pass a semester-long course during their junior or senior year to graduate high school. The Kansas Supreme Court issued its latest Gannon decision in June. Last week and this week numerous proponents and only one opponent submitted testimony on the school finance fix. The Attorney General has given a date of March 15 for an enactment to ensure compliance with the court’s April briefing deadline.
